Effective File Sharing

Are you working on multiple computers, at work, at home, or your laptop? Ever get tired of copying files to share to an USB drive or emailing them to you? I just found the perfect solution, Dropbox.

To be honest, I didn't find it myself but someone mentioned it to me.  I never had a look at it until today.

My wife forgot to copy a file from work onto the USB drive and needed it to continue her work on it.  I had a similar problem last week. I needed to transfer a large file to a remote computer high up on a mountain in Spain. With only a GPRS modem connection it took me several tries to get it there.
The answer turned out to be so simple.

Dropbox is a simple application that creates a shared folder on your computer. Any file you place in this folder synchronizes automatically with the storage folder you get on the Dropbox server.
For the free account you get 2 GB of storage space, which should be enough to get you started.
When you install Dropbox on all your computers, all of them will synchronize with this online storage. So your files will be available on all of your computers. How cool is that?

The on-line storage space has an automatic back up and it is fully secure. So your files are perfectly safe.

By making a folder public you can share folders with the rest of the world or just your mother.
Even non public documents can be shard, even with non Dropbox users, if you send them an url from your Dropbox account.
