Photoshelter export plugin version 2.5

The photoshelter export plugin for Adobe Lightroom has improved.  It is not only the easiest way to upload your photos to Photoshelter Archive from Lightroom. You can update already uploaded images by replacing the previous upload. It is also possible to synchronize the IPTC metadata between lightroom and photoshelter.

All these new features are made possible by Photoshelter. They extended their functionality to make these features possible in the plugin.

Replacing an image

Replacing an already uploaded images is as simple as doing an initial export. If you attempt to upload images that are already in your archive, the plugin offers you the option to update/replace them or to skip them. That is all there is to it.

Do note that replacing an image on Photoshelter also replaces the Photoshelter IPTC data with the new data. If you have manually entered IPTC on Photoshelter it is important to synchronize your IPTC data first!

Synchronizing IPTC data

Are you one of the many photographers who spent hours updating the SEO/IPTC data on Photoshelter? You can now synchronize these changes back into to IPTC data of lightroom.

This option can be found in the File - Plugin extra's menu of lightroom. Select the images you want to synchronize in your lightroom catalog and start the synchronization.

The plugin first checks if the image still exists on Photoshelter. If it is no longer on Photoshelter it updates its database entries and continues with the next image.

If the image is still on Photoshelter it reads the stored IPTC data from Photoshelter. Any empty IPTC field in lightroom will be filled with the data from Photoshelter. Next it fills any empty Photoshelter field with the data from lightroom. So only empty field on either side are synchronized. No data is lost or overwritten.
