5 tips to handle the new Photoshelter

Are you still trying to get a grasp of the new Photoshelter? Here are 5 tips to help you out.

Create more view space in the back end

The image browser screen has 3 panes. There is a seperator between them. Click on the seperator to colapse the side pane. Click on the seperator again to show it.

set cover image

Set cover image of a gallery

Select a gallery you want to change. Drag the image you want to use as a cover image to the "description section" in the right hand pane

change visibility

Change the visibility of a gallery or folder

Select the gallery or folder. In the top of the right pane, there is "who can see me?" and "who can download me?" You can select "Everyone", "Those with permissions" and "No one but me". You can also grant download permission here.

image located in

Find out how many 'copies' of a gallery are there

Check the "located in" section at the bottom of the right pane.

change sort order

Change the image order in a gallery

Select a gallery and use the "order selector", is located next to the "actions" at the top of the middle pane. You can now select the order based on "File Name". "Date Uploaded", "Date  Added to Gallery", "Date Taken" and "Custom". The up/down arrows next to it allow you to reverse the order.

Is your upload software still good for Lightroom 3? I was using it from last year, but now I don't have the Photoshelter option on the Export pulldown any more.
Thanks in advance

Hi Jon,

Yes, the plugin still works with LR3. Although I can highly recommend an upgrade to LR4.

I am not sure why the pulldown is missing. Check the LR plugin manager to see if it is still installed and enabled.

Hi,
I have had to change my email address which I have updated in Photoshelter.
However the LR plugin does not recognise the new email address when publishing.

A window pops up with :
Login attempt failed.
We couldn't find a user account with that email address.

Can you help? I presume the email address in the Plugin requires changing but I do not know how to.

Regards Alan

Hi Alan,

Sorry for my late reply.
If you are using the standard export (File-export) the dialog allows you changing the email address.
If you are using the publish service, choose 'edit settings' on the publish service.

Regards,

Paul
