Thank you a million for this really nice plugin. I think without it it would take ages for me to even start uploading my pictures to PS. Now that it is exactly the same procedure as uploading I really tend to do it immediatly after the pictures are ready. Really really handy.

cheers!

I am unable to log in as well. Where do you set up the log in name and password if it is not the same as photoshelter"s?

The username and the password to enter are the same as you use to login at the photoshelter website.

Just make sure that after you enter the username and password, you 'tab' out of the edit field before clicking on the login button.

Hi Paul,
Thanks a lot for the plugin, it definitely makes life easier getting the photos to PhotoShelter.
If I could make one suggestion for a future update it would be for the inclusion of an option to replace existing photos with a new version that has the same file name. Unless I'm mistaken I think you currently have a notification that a particular file has already been uploaded, but no option to replace the original.
Thanks again, your work is appreciated!
Cheers,
Jens

Hi Jens,

Unfortunately Photoshelter doesn't allow a photo to be replace. Possibly a delete and new upload could solve this. I'll investigate this option.

Great plugin! Any plans to add "upload to gallery" and "create new gallery" feature? I know at least the upload to gallery is allowed by the Photoshelter incoming FTP protocol, so it should be possible... this would be a dream come true!

I'm having problems uploading to PhotoShelter. Both of the times I have tried, some of the images don't upload.

Could it possibly be when the laptop goes to sleep that is causing the problem?

Thank you in advance,

Sherri Meyer

Hi Sherry,

Yes, you are correct. When the laptop goes to sleep, the network connect closes too. So uploading will stop in that case.

So keep the laptop awake while uploading.

Paul

Is there a problem with the download link? When I download the zip file it seems that the plug-in within the zip is version 1.0 and not version 1.4. Am I going mad?

Hi. I installed the plugin OK and it logs into Photoshelter OK but when I try to export the progress meter goes nowhere. Does this work with the Photoshelter Basic account which disables incoming FTP?
Reply | Reply with quote | Quote

0 # Paul Kamphuis 2009-09-24 00:10
The plugin does work with every Photoshelter account.
Keep in mind that the progress meter only update after a photo is uploaded. So it can take a long time.

Hi Anthony,
Is it the first time you use the plugin?
Try exporting via the "File" menu and then
"export". You will be able to enter your login details there.
The export via the right-click context menu doesn't work properly.

good luck
Paul

Hi Scott, there is no difference between a Mac or PC version of the plugin. The file you need is psa_export_v14

The Photoshelter Uploader does not work with Lightroom 3 beta. Is there a plan for this?

0 # Paul Kamphuis 2009-10-31 14:05
Of course the plugin will support Lightroom 3 eventually. Support for lightroom 3 beta will depend on the reason why it is not supported yet.

If I know more, I will announce it on the site.

Hi Bas,

Did you start the export using the export dialog? You need to use the export dialog and loggin there. There is no need to have a web browser open.

Let me know if this works for you.

Hi Radek,

Too many of these login errors recently.
It is going to be top priority to get this solved.

Anyone who experiences this problem, please report it with details about:
platform: windows/ Mac + version
Lightroom version:
32/64 bit version

Also indicate if you want to try test versions of the plugin. To diagnose the problem.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hey Paul,

sure, I can help with testing the plugin to solve this.

I have downloaded the plugin from this page: http://www.pactsoftware.nl/tools/lightroom-export-plugin-photoshelter.html

So I think it is version 1.4, but in my LR Plug-in Manager it shows up as version 1.0.

The platform is Windows Vista 32-bit. Lightroom 2.5.

I use other plug-ins to upload to Flickr or Picasa, so I guess it doesn't have anything to do with connection / security, does it?

The LR plugin manager indeed still shows version 1.0 but it really is version 1.4

No it is not likely a security problem. Although I recently had one user where his firewall blocked the access. But he didn't use the flickr or picasa plugin.

As soon as I have a version I will contact you.

Watermarking? There is a checkbox to add a watermark to my exported JPG files to Photoshelter, but nothing shows and there is no way to configure it (that I can find...)

Having this would be HUGE for me...i would export two different galleries - one low res with watermarks for sharing with clients and one with original files...

HELPP\???

0 # Paul Kamphuis 2010-01-13 20:49
Hi Mark,
The watermark checkbox is not functionality of the plugin. It is the standard watermark export functionality of lightroom.

Unfortunately this functionality is very limited. It will only add a small print line at the bottom of your exported photos. So no watermark images, only a too small text line.

Sorry about this.

Can you explain why you want to two different resolutions?

Hi,
Just started with your plug-in. I have a lot of keywords (a full hierarchy) attached to my images in Lightroom. I have uploaded some, why are the keyboards not uploaded?

Thanks!

Hi Juan,

There are several reasons why keywords are not included in the export. Have a look at this how-to article about lightroom and keywords.

If you need more info, just let me know

It's an excellent plug in - thank you.
I have just one (so far!) wish for it - that it should mark the images in Lightroom as having been sent to Photoshelter. Jeffrey Friedl's Flickr uploader does this as does the Alamy uploader (although the Alamy one is rather complicated).
I hope this is on your list for a future upgrade.
Many thanks Marie-Louise

I just downloaded the Lightroom plugin and it opens Lightroom and says there are no photos in the catalog. My catalog is saved on my external hard-drive, not on my desktop or internal hard-drive. Is there some way I'm not understanding to make this plugin work for me? Also, no icon showed up on my desktop to unzip (nor is there a readme file that I can see, anyway!). Any idea what's up or why I'm having such a hard time figuring this out?

Thanks a lot! :)

Hi Erin,

Thanks for pointing out that the installation instruction are in need of updating. Least important first, the readme is actually called manual and is available in the download section www.pactsoftware.nl/lightroom-export-plugin/.
But that one needs updating too.

Now back to the installation. Extract the plugin from the zip and place to somewhere on your hard-disc. (Keep the folder name intact).

Start lightroom and open the add-in manager from the file menu. Choose "Add" and browse to the folder where you placed the plugin.

That should install the plugin in lightroom. To use the plugin choose File - export.

Let me know if this works for you.

Paul

Hi Brian,

Unfortunate the current version of the plugin does't support this.

I hope to be able to continue development of the plugin soon. This will be added to the wish list.

Any feature requests are welcome. Keep them coming!

Can you determine if there is a difference between the software versions of the Mac?

Also is it always the same mac that succesfully logs in?

any additional information is appreciated.

Here is the system info from the Mac which successfully logs in:

Lightroom version: 2.5 [605155]
Version: 10.6 [2]
Application architecture: x86

And here is the system info from the Mac which gets the 'not logged in' message:

Lightroom version: 2.6 [632038]
Version: 10.6 [2]
Application architecture: x86

It is always the same Mac which successfully logs in.

Thanks for your help

Thank you for your generous donation!

work will still be demanding for a few weeks. But moving closer to work already saved me a few hours every day. I am more relaxed now and the internet connection, albeit a 'slow' umts one, is up and running. So I am getting ready to start on the plugin.
